Dearest lovely SIBlings,

I hope you are all having a brilliant Bevrijdingsdag, despite the tumultuous weather! I’ve heard plans of some delicious BBQing, visiting the festival, and just having a look round the city. Much like today, the office will be closed for all of next week, including for open office hours and for committee meetings. If you for any reason need to visit, please text a board member to find an appropriate time. But that doesn’t mean that we won’t be having our regular fun events. This week we will have the lecture organised by dispuut Que, discussing the use of Modern AI and of course the long-awaited Diplomats Dinner.

This week we had an incredible Monday night, brought to you by the fabulous Feestcie. They took us through the year, month by month, showing off the talents your SIBlings had to offer. We saw Eo Sensu’s homage to National Punk Day, a wonderful recital of self-written poetry by Jits, and who could forget the iconic performance of Jingle Bell Rock by BOEF to round off the night with Christmas. But the winner, of course had to be Editorials’ Walpurgis Night, with its audience participation, dancing and fire! A big thanks to everyone who took part, your talents are much appreciated 🙂 This magical night also included the SIB awards ceremony, scroll down to see who you all chose as the winners!

On Tuesday Soccie had its first city trip! A journey to the radiant Rotterdam’s Bouncevalley, so our members could live out their inflatable dreams and practice their parkour skills safely. It was a lovely trip!

Next Monday, dispuut QUE brings you a lecture on Chat GPT and AI by Dr Lambert Schomaker. He will discuss the shortcomings of the use of Modern AI, particularly the lack of intentionality and lack of multimodality. It will surely be a fascinating topical lecture, so come on down and support QUE!

Then on Thursday, we have the very exciting Diplomats Dinner. The very lovely BOEF brings you the 11th edition of this illustrious event. Ever fancied having dinner with a Diplomat? Now’s your chance. Taking place on the 11th of May, come have a delicious meal and thrilling conversation with 15 diplomats, including Israel, Colombia, Senegal and North Macedonia, at the Van SwinderenHuys! This event will cost up to a max of 30EUR and includes a drink and dinner with the diplomats. Come and get your ticket, limited spots are available. Click here to sign up.

Furthermore, signups for the Hitchhike trip to Berlin are still open! Click here to make sure you don’t miss out on the adventure. You get the opportunity to participate in a unique competition that challenges you to navigate your way from Groningen to Berlin using only your wits, charm, and hitchhiking skills. It’s the ultimate test of your resourcefulness and ability to adapt to new situations. And the best part? The competition is open to anyone with a sense of adventure and a desire to explore. Whether you’re a seasoned hitchhiker or a first-timer, this is your chance to step outside of your comfort zone and discover new horizons. Don’t miss your chance!

You can still buy raffle tickets for dispuut BOEFs initiative to support Wender in raising money for a new courtyard for their women’s shelter. Tickets are 1 euro each and prizes include kitchen appliances, stationery and even gardening supplies! Don’t miss your chance and click here to buy now while you can.
