Newsletter 29 may – 4 june

Dearest lovely SIBlings,

The sun is shining, the sky is blue, I hope you’re all taking advantage of this perfect spring weather and the public holiday coming up!

This Monday, the 22nd of May, we had a lecture titled ‘UN Diplomacy’ by Martijn Dadema, the Mayor of Raalte. He gave us an overview of his past career experiences in New York and Kenya and discussed our responsibility to protect. He gave us all some inspiring, helpful advice. This fantastic lecture was organised by Bram van Lenthe, so a big thank you to him!

Then, we had our long-awaited Preferred Candidate Board Announcement! We had a fabulous time at the Feestcie’s plane, trains and bicycle lanes party. We are proud to announce the 77th Preferred Candidate Board as:
Preferred Candidate President: Thomas Beller
Preferred Candidate Secretary: Roshni Esther Dutta
Preferred Candidate Treasurer: Konstantijn Rondhuis
Preferred Candidate Commisioner of Internal Communication: Annemijn Verloop
Preferred Candidate Commissioner of Intellectual Activities: Natalie Bichler
Preferred Candidate Commissioner of Public Relations: Joep de Wild
Pictures from this night will be up shortly.

Please also note, that we have the 2nd part of our GMA coming up. This will be very exciting as in the first part on Thursday, May 25th, we voted on the membership fee proposal, and in the second part on June 8th, we will be electing the new 77th Candidate Board!  GMAs will be taking place at The Cabin, starting at 19:47 sharp. We would love to invite you all to be there to see the election of the 77th Board.

Next Monday (29th of May), there will sadly be no lecture as it is Pinksteren, but later on this week, we will have the Hitchhike trip to Berlin. I hope the hitchhikers are feeling ready! We wish them the best of luck in their travels.

The following Monday we bring you a lecture titled ‘Jerusalem: The Holy City?’ by Sai Englert and Julia Tebbe. This will take place in Mesacosa at 20:00 and will give us an introduction to the situation in Israel, discuss the concept of settler colonialism and give us an insight into the lives of Palestinian people under the settlement policy by the Israeli government. This is sure to be a very thought-provoking lecture, so be sure to come on down.

Then we will have the second part of our GMA on the 8th of June. Here, we will elect the 77th Candidate Board. Come to the Cabin at 19:47 on the 8th of June to elect your new board! This GMA will not take place online.

We also have SIB merch available for sale!
