Newsletter 13 – 19 march

Dearest SIBlings,

Flu season has hit once again, and I hope you are all taking of yourselves. I’ve personally enjoyed many hot cups of tea and curling up next to the radiator. Here’s a fun lil recipe for a hot toddy – feel free to replace the whiskey with a dark rum or brandy!

This Monday, the 6th of March, the Accie organised a thrilling, interactive debate night for you all! Everyone had the opportunity to participate in discussions concerning feminism, climate change and degrowth, and fast fashion. It was an excellent night seeing you all engage in such thoughtful discussions.

As you may be aware, the GMA of Thursday the 9th of March, has been postponed due to some of the board coming down with COVID. Because of this, we arranged a GMM to discuss some of the boards more urgent points that they wanted input on. We discussed what to do with the money from the Yearbook Auction 2021-22 and the GMM voted in favour of giving it to charity. However, people who bought items from the auction will be contacted individually to opt out of this choice if they wish. Furthermore, committee participation and the introduction period were discussed. The minutes for this meeting will be on the member’s page of the website shortly. There will be an update on the new date for the GMA this coming Monday. During this GMA, the board will present what it has been up to in the last 3 months, committees, dispute and PGs will give updates on how they are getting along, and members will have the opportunity to give their suggestions/comments about the inner workings of the association, amongst other things. All entities of the SIB are expected to attend, so we hope to see you all there!

Furthermore, the Yearbook Auction and party are just around the corner! At the Yearbook Auction, each committee, project group, dispuut and other entity of the SIB will auction an item or service that you will be able to purchase! All money raised during this event will go to the production costs of our yearbook. Show up to support the Yearbook Committee, irresponsibly spend money on the things your fellow SIBlings have to offer (there will be free beer on offer to help you with this) and secure some loot! Show up early if you want some free drinks tonight After the auction, Feestcie will organize a wonderful Albert Heijn themed party to celebrate the Lustrum of the Bonus Card – make sure to come ready in your Albert Heijniest outfits and merch!

Then, on Thursday the 16th, the Soccie has its next event! They will be taking a lucky delegation of SIB to the local bowling alley, Kardingerweg 50 at 17:00. Bowl to your heart’s content with the cheap, cheap price of up to 2 euros each! Click here to sign up.

On the 21st of March, the board will go visit SIB-Utrecht to attend their weekly drinks, if you are interested in coming along, an interest list will be made available shortly!

With applications opening up in just a few weeks, if you are interested in applying for the 77th Board of SIB-Groningen, there are many opportunities to help you prepare! We have our 2nd Board interest event coming up and more information will follow soon! In the meantime, if you have any questions about positions/the application process/anything really, don’t hesitate to reach out, we are more than happy to help!

We also have SIB merch available for sale! We offer hoodies, sweaters, ties, pins and caps. They are very stylish and suitable for any occasion (especially SIB trips) so be sure to check them out!
