Dearest lovely SIBlings,
With exam season in full force, I hope you are all doing well. With the promise of spring break around the corner, the idea of a little vacation is fantastic. But if the stress is getting to you a little, the sun is out, and Noorderplantsoen is very beautiful! Also, watch out as the post-easter chocolate discounts are something to very much look forward to 😉
This Monday, the wonderful Accie organised a fantastic lecture by Martin Řezníček who discussed the role of American media and explained the principles of public media in Europe. He delved further into what it was like to be in America when Trump was elected and analysed populism in the West. After this enlightening lecture, we headed off to Mesacosa together for the Hitchhike Announcement. This year we are off to the bodacious Berlin! Signups are open now, so click here to make sure you don’t miss your chance to join us!
Next week, due to Easter we will not be having our regular Monday lecture, and the office will be closed both this Friday (April 7) and Monday (April 10). But if you need something to think about while you desperately miss SIB over this break, why not consider a board year? With the deadline for board applications closing soon, here is more information on the process. To kick off the process, you first need to email your CV and motivation letter (up to 2 pages) to secretary@sib-groningen.nl. After the deadline (7th of April), the board will then get in contact with you to schedule an interview, which will take place in early May. Interviews will be conducted with 2 board members and a RvA member. Please note that being interviewed does not necessarily mean you will be selected. Once interviews have concluded, the board proposes successful candidates as the Preferred Candidate Board, which the GMA then votes on at the election GMA, this is currently scheduled for the 8th of June. And then handover will begin
But, the SIB will be right back on the 17th of April. Pardon?! will host a Karaoke night at 21:00 at Mesacosa. So make sure you practice your fave songs in time to give the show of your life. I also highly recommend going to try out some material for the upcoming annual talent show – SIB on Stage. In preparation for this, the SIB awards have already opened up for votes, so click here to give your opinion! But more news on this in the next few weeks!
On the 19th of April, there will be a documentary night and panel discussion on Wildlife Trafficking at ORKZ. Don’t miss out on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Wild Daze in the cinema and talk to experts from the EIA and the UNDP about Wildlife Trafficking! The event is free of charge, and participants can sign up via this form.
We also have SIB merch available for sale!
