Workshop: ‘Job Opportunities at International Organizations’ by Bob Deen
06-06-2016 at 16:00 - 17:00Free
Working for the UN, for NATO, for the EU or the OSCE, that’s the image that the information flyers project to IRIO students. While taking all those different courses in law, economics, history and political science, it might be hard to see how such a broad set of overall knowledge might get you a concrete job position.
On the 6th of June, you will have the perfect opportunity to ask questions on this topic. That night former IRIO student Bob Deen will visit Groningen to give a lecture on ‘Frozen Conflicts at Russia’s Borders’ at SIB-Groningen. In the afternoon, he will be giving a small workshop on how to enter the labour market after having obtained your IRIO degree. He will tell about his experiences of working for the OSCE and will be available to all kinds of questions you might have about possible future jobs. This workshop will begin at 16:00 in the Academy Building, room A7.
Bob Deen currently works with the OSCE’s High Commissioner on National Minorities by providing political advice on conflict prevention and national minority issues in Ukraine and Moldova. Previously he did the same on South-Eastern and Central Europe. In 2008 he was an EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, based in Georgia. He also worked for ACTED and Conflict Research Unit (CRU) and went to Moldova as an observer in Transnistria. Furthermore, he has working level fluency in six languages, including Russian and Spanish.
