Welmoet Wels: Protecting Civilians in Conflict Areas

September 17 at 20:00 - 22:00

Ever since they were first created, the main goal of UN peace keeping missions has been to ensure the security of civilians. No matter what parties are at war, the safety of civilians has the highest priority. But how can UN Peacekeeping forces accomplish this goal? And what is it actually like to be a part of this mission and everything around it?

On 17 September, we will have a lecture by Welmoet Wels, who has been part of the UN Peacekeeping force in Mali in 2015, and is now a PhD student at the University of Groningen. She will talk to us about the workings of the UN Peacekeeping forces and her own experience with them.

This event is free and open to everyone.

More information will follow soon.
