“The EU Today and Tomorrow: a very personal journey” by Shada Islam
Monday 18 October, 20:00 - 22:00
2020 was definitely really challenging for the European Union. Firstly, the United Kingdom left the Union. Later the Covid-19 pandemic caused a severe health system crisis. Additionally, the negation of the EU long-term budget 2021-2027 and the recovery package led to numerous tensions between the members. How will those challenges affect the European Union? This lecture will be given by Shada Islam who will discuss the EU around 3 themes: geopolitics, inclusion and a conference on the Future of Europe and Democracy. Mrs Islam is an influential Brussels-based specialist on European Union affairs who works independently as a commentator, advisor, analyst and strategist on Europe, geopolitics, diversity and women’s empowerment. She runs her own Brussels-based global strategy and advisory media company – New Horizons Project (NHP).
