Supporting Ukraine’s frontline and peace by Kasper Kannosto
Thursday 26 September 2024, 20:00 - 22:00
How much can we actually help in a crysis? Are our hands ever truly tied due to distance or other factors? This week’s topic seems to answer our questions.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, a group of people in Finland felt compelled to help. The need to make a difference pushed them to find ways to go past any and all obstacles. This way, “Your Finnish Friends” was founded.
This association came to life through one public fundraiser and since then, it has helped enable and secure continuous support to Ukraine, take care of the survival and operating conditions of Finns helping on the ground, as well as supporting them when returning home to their civilian lives.
Kasper Kannosto is the Chairman of “Your Finnish Friends” and in this week’s lecture he will walk us through the association’s story and how it managed to provide weekly aid to the affected areas, as well as grow throughout the past three years by gaining the trust of donors. He will offer us insight into his experience with being so closely involved in the Russo-Ukrainian War, as well as the difference the association has managed to make in supporting Ukraine’s frontline.
