‘Navigating the Path to Peace: Reconciliation Efforts in Jerusalem’ by Amalia Vesa Fulea
Monday 12 February, 20:00 - 22:00
Join us for an engaging lecture exploring the pivotal role of reconciliation in the complex landscape of the occupied West Bank and Israel, with a spotlight on the transformative efforts of Musahala, a groundbreaking Palestinian grassroots movement. Musahala is dedicated to initiating dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis, seeking to mend individual and collective relationships by confronting systemic injustices head-on. By addressing power imbalances stemming from oppressive policies, systems, and legal structures and advocating for justice, this NGO aims to create an environment conducive to reconciliation and lasting peace.
Through the lens of Amalia’s work, we will explore the arduous journey of reconciliation advocates in the region, navigating complex socio-political dynamics and entrenched conflicts. We will gain valuable insights into the transformative power of grassroots initiatives in fostering understanding and empathy between Israelis and Palestinians.
Our guest speaker, Amalia Vesa Fulea, is a recent graduate of the University of Groningen’s International and European Law Programme. Despite the premature end of her internship, Amalia’s commitment to facilitating dialogue remains, and she plans to pursue a career in diplomacy regarding EU and Middle Eastern affairs. Additionally, she is fascinated by the intersection between law and philosophy and has a passion for bioethics law.
