Millennium Goals 2.0
Around the beginning of this millennium 289 states agreed on eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), targeting eight key areas – poverty, education, gender equality, child mortality, maternal health, disease, the environment and global partnership. This year they are due to expire and the UN has agreed last month on the brand new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the upcoming 15 years. The SDGs established so far consist of 17 goals and are an expanded version of the MDGs. This lecture is about both of these.
Prof. Dr. Hildegard Lingnau will talk about both the MDGs and the SDGs. She leads the work of the Development Co-operation Directorate at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on development as a whole. She has published many articles about sustainable development and is certainly an expert on this topic. Right after Lingnau’s presentation there will be a Q&A. Finally, like every Monday at the SIB, there will be drinks afterwards!
This event, organized by our Introduction Committee, is open and free for everybody.
