Lecture Financial Stability in China
07-09-2015 at 20:00 - 22:00
This lecture will be given by a senior economist of the Dutch bank ABN AMRO, Arjen Dijkhuizen. He will analyze the financial stability in China. The Emerging Market team of the Financial Bureau are his direct colleagues and the developments in emerging countries and land ratings are his main focus. Since he also has experience at the Dutch central bank with international macro-economics and finance, we are interested in the vision of mister Dijkhuizen.
For the past decade the Chinese economy has been growing rapidly, especially compared to the grow rates of countries like the Netherlands. Since June the growing has stopped and investors have decreased the investments on a large scale. The past month was the worst month in terms of trade in six years. Overall market-values have decreased by one third recently and 2,5 trillion euros disappeared. The question rises whether this is the beginning of a downwards spiral or just a minor bump on the road to more growth. Before the decline market-value has increased with 50 percent this year, but now the demand for products and services is declining and the government is taking great effort to increase the financial situation.
