Lecture by Max Westerman
31-08-2015 at 20:00 - 22:00
On the last day of August the Dutch journalist Max Westerman will give a lecture on Barack Obama’s years in the White House and what Obama has created. How did he do as a president of the United States of America? What is left of the ‘Yes We Can’ mentality? How do the Americans see Obama? Why is Guantánamo Bay still open? This experienced publicist will show us his reflection on Obama’s two terms.
Max Westerman (1958) is a well know journalist who reported for a significant amount of important event for the media company RTL. Based in New York, he reported on Clintons presidency, the Bush elections in 2000 and 2004, the September 11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina. In recent years Westerman branched out with three TV-series. In ‘Max And The City’ he took a humorous look at New York and in ‘Max in alle Staten’ at American society at large. In 2008 he hosted the series ‘Westermans Nieuwe Wereld’, in which compares the Netherlands with the United States. In his shows he went beyond traditional journalism and participated in many of the stories (trying out such things as “nazi-yoga” and “speed-dating”). He also produced documentaries about the prison industries, the O.J. Simpson case, the 2000 elections and the death penalty. After being a journalist in New York for 15 years, he exchanged the Big Apple for Rio de Janeiro.
