Guest lecture by Sebastian Reyn
03-09-2018 at 20:00 - 22:00
When the leader of your closest military ally openly questions the alliance you have build over the past 70+ years, what do you do? When an old major power on Europe’s border starts to test the waters in the Ukraine, what do you do? When your ministry has to face these issues, after years of budget cuts, what do you do? These questions are only a few of those which have to answered by the Ministry of Defence.
On Monday 3 September, Sebastian Reyn, Director-General of Policy at the Ministry of Defence, will give a guest lecture about Dutch defence policy. During this lecture, and the Q&A that will follow, Dr. Reyn will touch upon thses subjects and will explain how the Ministry of Defence intends to handle these issues. Subjects that will come up include defence policy, NATO, foreign missions, and whatever subjects you may be interested in when asking your questions during the Q&A.
Sebastian Reyn is an expert in International Relations and Cyber Security. During his time at project Symbolon, he worked to create the Joint Sigint Cyber Unit, a cooperation effort between the AIVD (General Intelligence Service) and the MIVD (Military Intelligence Service). As Director-General for Strategy and Policy, he is the head of all policy formulated by the Ministry, and is thus able to give us an inside look at how policy is created in the Ministry.
