The return of the Otter in the Netherlands by Addy de Jongh

Addy de Jongh became fascinated by the otter (Lutra lutra) during his biology studies at the University of Groningen. He is the founder and director of the Otterstation Netherlands Foundation and researcher at the University of Groningen. He is the national representative of the IUCN Otter Specialist Group. He supervises BSc, MSc and PhD students in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition, he gives lectures internationally about the otter and its environment. He is initiator of the Dutch reintroduction of the otter and for this purpose he has captured otters himself in Latvia and Belarus. In 2010 he was knighted by the former Queen of the Netherlands in the Royal Order of Orange Nassau for his work on otters and restoring wetlands. In this lecture he will tell you all about this beautiful and very playful animal and why it is so important to protect this species and its environment.
