KEI Conference: “How Artificial Intelligence changes the European Union”
Tuesday 16 August 2022, 14:15 - 14:45
Undeniably, artificial intelligence has the potential to enormously impact society as it changes the information that we receive, the choices that we make, and the ways in which we function. In the coming years, AI will play an even greater role in the way that governments and public institutions operate, and the way in which citizens interact and participate in the democratic process. While AI clearly can be truly beneficial (it helps with identifying the best candidates for a job, assisting doctors to establish medical diagnoses or supporting lawyers before the courts), it also entails risks of mass surveillance, spreading of misinformation or weapons automatization. How can the European Union approach AI including its human and ethical implications?
The speaker for this lecture, Kulani Abendroth-Dias, who is a Strategic Analyst with the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) in Paris, France, will address this issue as well as the challenges of the European Union in the Digital Age.
