Hydrogen Conference
Tuesday 21 May 2024, 20:00 - 22:00
As we move toward a low-carbon economy and seek sustainable energy sources, hydrogen has become a promising solution. Because of its clean-burning properties and ability to be produced from renewable sources, this element has great potential. Groningen has taken significant steps towards harnessing hydrogen’s power. The region’s extensive natural gas reserves have historically played an important role in its energy landscape. A key component of the province’s energy transition strategy is the exploration of hydrogen as it shifts toward renewable energy. Hydrogen technologies, particularly hydrogen transport, have been actively explored and implemented in the area. Groningen aims to integrate hydrogen as a viable alternative to conventional fossil fuel-based transportation. As part of its plans to create a hydrogen-powered transportation network, Groningen is investing in hydrogen refuelling stations for buses and passenger cars and collaborating with industry and government partners. These initiatives aim to promote hydrogen use in various sectors, including public transport, freight, and personal vehicles. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions and foster sustainable mobility solutions.
