Gerda Verburg: Feeding the World of Tomorrow
10-09-2018 at 20:00 - 22:00
Feeding the World of Tomorrow
For most of recent times, the prevention and solving of malnutrition issues has been one of the most pressing issues for the world to face. Though the percentage of hungry people worldwide is reaching record lows, the amount of people living without adequate food supplies is slowly rising. With issues such as conflict, climate change, and migration, the question arises as to how we can prevent further malnourishment; how can we feed the world of tomorrow?
Gerda Verburg, the Coordinator of the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, will join us on 10 September to give a lecture about the global fight against malnutrition. The Scaling Up Nutrition Movement was established in 2010 through the collaboration of the United Nations, member states, and NGO’s to fight malnutrition worldwide and to realise the Sustainable Development Goals. The SUN has been actively guiding and engaging nations with malnutrition problems to help overcome these issues.
Gerda Verburg is the current Coordinator of the SUN and former Dutch agriculture minister. She has been the Chair of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and the Chair of the UN Committee on World Food Security.
This lecture is free and open to everyone.
