“Geopolitics – from an economic angle: How will Hong Kong as an international financial centre survive?” A lecture by Eddie Cheung
Monday 11 October, 20:00 - 22:00
In recent times the European Union and China have talked increasingly of fostering a ‘strategic partnership’ between them, this being primarily founded on their strengthening economic ties. While efforts to enhance trade and other economic links continue to play a major role in the relationship – especially due to the financial impact of the pandemic – countries across Europe are becoming increasingly sceptical of Beijing’s intentions. This lecture will be given by Mr Eddie Cheung who is the Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Union. He will discuss how the west should be viewing the east in light of the economic outlook, escalation of geopolitical tensions and how Hong Kong as an international financial centre will survive.
