Field Trips: Ryan Wittingslow on the Fear of Technology
21-03-2018 at 19:30 - 22:00Free
This event is organised by City Central
Groningen is full of bright young minds. Are you curious to know what’s in them?
We are. City Central and Achterwerk are pleased to announce their collaboration called ‘Field Trips’. Events for the bright minds of Groningen, where we encourage speakers and visitors to share insights in their fields of research and work. Fields trips is about in depth knowledge and cross-disciplinary discussion. Each month we invite a young speaker to come and talk to us about what he or she considers a ‘hot topic’. We encourage visitors to participate in an open cross-disciplinary discussion afterwards.
You’ll also get the chance to interrogate the guests about what their work is really like. Learn what it’s like to be a philosopher / engineer / media analyst / astronomer etc. Ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask.
We encourage our visitors to share knowledge from their own discipline with our guests. Maybe your study about modern medicine or European culture can contribute to a discussion in what seems to be a di frent field of work. Hence the name Field Trips; we are eager to find out! We start with ‘Fear of technology’.
Young upcoming researcher and lecturer at University College Groningen, Ryan Wittingslow, tells us about his research into fear of technology, and his personal experience combining philosophy with history of art and journalism. You’ll hear about his working life and get the chance to discuss and have a drink afterwards.
Special cocktail made for the occasion: the ‘Black Mirror’. Join us on Wednesday 21st of March at Achterwerk from 7.30pm.
Lecture starts at 8pm.
