Dies Natalis: “Peacebuilding on the African Continent”

21-11-2016 at 12:30 - 18:00

Is peacebuilding effective? What can peacebuilding in its many forms achieve? Is democracy necessary for achieving peace and are Western approaches to peacebuilding feasible means to approach peacebuilding?

If you like to explore those questions, we cordially invite you to attend the Dies Natalis Conference 2016 of SIB-Groningen! Every year, SIB-Groningen organizes a conference to celebrate the anniversary of their association. This year, the conference will have the topic “Peacebuilding on the African Continent”. We will explore the various perspectives and challenges on this highly relevant and controversial issue.

In order to do so, we are honoured to welcome experts from various fields, such as Jan Pronk, former head of the UN mission in Sudan and former Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation, Giselle Schellekens, programme developer for the NGO SPARK, and Deputy Head of Mission Franklin Katungwe from the Ugandan Embassy. They will speak about their respective field of expertise in various plenary lectures, masterclasses and debates.

Are you curious to know who the other speakers are? Do you want to know more about the topics that will be discussed? Check out the website: Here you can find all the information on the speakers, topics, schedule, registration and the association behind the conference; SIB-Groningen. Be quick to sign up, since the number of spots is limited!
