The cyber domain poses many challenges and opportunities for society as a whole. Emerging technologies have a dual use nature that can be employed for both benevolent and malicious purposes. AI is able to generate extensive knowledge, as well as lifelike deep fakes that can either educate or misdirect the public. In brief, cybersecurity and AI are not merely disciplines of computer science, they pose relevant social questions that have geopolitical and legal implications. 

To celebrate the 77th Dies Natalis of SIB Groningen, in the spirit of maintaining our commitment to tackling relevant international issues, this year’s conference’s theme is “Securing the Future: Exploring the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity”. This event aims to map the intersection of cybersecurity and AI, illustrating that emerging technologies have a significant impact on global society.
