Debate: Art & Design in the World of the United Nations [Dutch]

Thursday 29 October 2020, 19:00 - 21:00

This year the United Nations celebrates its 75th anniversary. Urgent social issues such as peace and security, human rights and economic and social development are high on the agenda. But perhaps less well known are the enormous art collections of the UN.
What importance do art and design have within the organisations of the UN? What role can engaged artists play within social themes? And how do art and diplomacy relate to each other? In collaboration with SIB-Groningen, the CBK will present a debate on Thursday 29 October in which speakers from the worlds of art, science, politics and business will talk to each other under the leadership of moderator Esther Didden.
Reserve your free tickets via the ticketlink or follow the debate online via the live stream.

SPEAKERS
Salima Belhaj (Member of Parliament for D66, Chairman of the Lower House Art Commission), Esther Polak (artist), Erna Rijsdijk (university lecturer and senior researcher at the Faculty of Military Behavioral Sciences of the Netherlands Defence Academy), Eva Ronhaar (director Innovation & Sustainability at HEMA) and Suzanne Schols (artist). Moderator: Esther Didden
This event is a concept of Mare van Koningsveld for CBK Groningen, in cooperation with SIB-Groningen and is made possible by VFonds, Future of Freedom (Municipality of Groningen & Province of Groningen) and Forum Groningen.
