Controversies on constitutional crisis and EU relations in Poland by Prof Adam Bosiacki

For the last couple of years, Poland has repeatedly been on the European agenda because of its so-called constitutional crisis. The new government has carried out a series of measures regarding the functioning of Poland’s Constitutional Court. Moreover, a ruling by Poland’s Supreme Court challenged the supremacy of European Union law. The Constitutional Tribunal ruled that several points in articles 1 and 19 of the EU treaties were incompatible with the Polish constitution. The speaker for this lecture Prof Adam Bosiacki from the University of Warsaw will explain whether or not the Polish court ruling has fallen into crisis and provide insights into what might happen next.
