Rob Riemen

Mr Riemen, founder and president of Nexus institute, compares the modern right-wing populism to fascism. In this lecture, he will describe the political empowerment of extreme right parties in Europe and illustrate this development using examples of Europe’s fascist past. With his work, he strives to continue the European humanistic tradition. His influential books ‘Nobility of Spirit’ and the ‘Eternal Return of Fascism’, translated into many different languages, both reflect this ambition.

The Nexus Institute is a highly influential intellectual association situated in the Netherlands. Three times a year, the institute publishes the cultural-philosophical magazine Nexus. The Nexus Institute moreover organizes activities, such as symposiums and lectures, in which Europe is approached from an artistic, ideological and philosophical angle.
