Lecture ‘’Shattering the Glass Ceiling for Women in Politics’’ by Simone Filippini
17-10-2016 at 20:00 - 21:30Free
Several research projects by the UN have shown that while progress on women’s political participation continues to be largely positive across the world, glass ceilings remain firmly in place for women at the highest levels. A glass ceiling is an unacknowledged (transparent) barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities. The former CEO of Sitchting (Foundation) Cordaid, one of the largest development aid organizations in the Netherlands, will elaborate on this subject. This is another lecture organized by our Introduction Committee and everyone is welcome!
Simone Filippini has been CEO of Cordaid since October 2013. She has previously worked as Consul-General in the South East of the United States and as Ambassador in Macedonia. From 2003 until 2007 she worked very hard to keep women’s’ rights on both the national and international agenda. Because of this versatile background, Mrs Filippini will be able to speak from both professional and personal perspectives.
