“Can psychedelics revolutionise mental health care?” by Dr Jeanine Kamphuis
Monday 24 January, 20:00 - 22:00
According to the World Health Organisation, globally, an estimated 264 million people are affected by depression. Moreover, frequently, traditional treatments such as prescribed medications are not as efficient as desired. Therefore, more and more therapists involve psychedelic drugs such as LSD, psilocybin, DMT, mescaline, 2C-B, and MDMA in treatment. Dr Jeanine Kamphuis, the speaker for this lecture, from the University of Groningen, will explain whether or not psychedelics can be seen as a solution to the worldwide problem of mental health issues. Additionally, she will provide insights into the ethical dilemma of using illegal drugs and what is the Dutch government’s approach to using psychedelics.
This lecture will take place via Zoom.
