Symposium “Should Nonprofits Operate More Like Businesses?”
10-10-2016 at 20:00 - 21:30Free
Recently, politicians have been calling on companies to help with development aid. According to the Dutch minister Ploumen, who visited SIB in April, firms should help providing emergency aid. A main focus point is encouraging collaborations between firms and NGOs. Although NGOs are donor driven and companies are client driven, the combination of the two could be the future of development aid. The new focus on profits by NGOs can help them to provide aid that is more efficient and improves the sustainability of the aid.
However, not many successful examples of this type of cooperation have arisen yet. How can the success of these measures be secured? And how can firms benefit from this? All your questions will be answered by tonight’s lecturer Hans Valkenburg. He researches social enterprise and is interim-manager in the Netherlands and third world countries. Attend our symposium to get inspired by the NGO of the future!
